DIY BOHO OFF THE SHOULDER SHIRT

Welcome or welcome back to my channel!

In today’s blog, I’m excited to show you how I transformed an old maxi dress into a stylish Boho off-shoulder shirt. I hope you enjoy this easy and fun DIY!

Let’s get started!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • An old maxi dress

  • Pattern paper

  • Sewing machine

  • Pins

  • Scissors

  • Ruler

  • Long stick

SEWING THE DRESS

THE BODY

Divide the maxi dress into 3 parts.

The lowest part of the maxi dress will be the body of the off-shoulder shirt, and the last two parts of the dress will be the hands.

For the body part, cut two sides on the top to make the hands.

The side used is 6 cm for the width and 10 centimeters for the length.

Cut one side and fold the fabric to cut for the other side.

THE HANDS

Cut the top of the old maxi dress into two pieces to make the top for the hand.

Because the fabric was not straight, iron it before doing so.

To make the right measurements, put the body part on the fabric and draw along the line of the hand.

For the width of the hands, use 13 cm at a comfortable width.

Then cut it with 2 cm extra to the drawing line to give space for sewing later.

Use the middle part of the maxi dress to create the puff hand.

And, use a line to connect two parts of the hands together.

Hand-sew to create the puff hand, as it is also easy to match with the other part of the hand.

Then sew two parts of two hands together with the line in the middle, and do the same for the other hands.

Use the lining fabric of the old maxi dress to turn it into the back of the off-shoulder shirt.

Apply the body part to the lining fabric and draw two sides of the hands.

Then cut by the drawing line.

To avoid the lining fabric from dropping during sewing, hand-sew it to hold them together.

Next step, sew the body part and two hands together.

For the neck of the shirt, use a rubber band to make it fit the shoulder.

Two tips for this part: draw the rubber band around the shoulder and tie it to a comfortable level.

Hand-sew before using the machine to help sew easily.

Do not forget to stretch the fabric straight when sewing.

The last step is to un-sew the hand-stitching before.
