DIY Cute lounge wear from boring clothes

Welcome to “Sewing with Jess”!

As we're doing social distancing and have to stay at home most of the time. So a cute and comfortable home outfit is very important. It'll turn your mood on and make your day way better than an ugly and boring clothes. Therefore, today video I'm going to share with you how I transformed my boring dress into a cute lounge wear in a very easy way.

I hope this video will give you some ideas on what to do at home and your result will turn out nothing but great.

And you'll be happy for it!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Boring clothes!

  • Pattern paper

  • Sewing machine

  • Pins

  • Scissors

  • Ruler

  • Long stick

SEWING THE LOUNGE WEAR

THE TOP

The first step is to go down 42cm from the neck, which is the width from the shoulder to the belly button plus 4cm.

Then, draw a horizontal line.

After cutting, we will have the top of the lounge wear.

After that, fold the end of the top to the line just drawn before and use pins to hold them together.

Then, sew along the pinned line.

Mark at the middle of the end first, then make two other marks at two sides of that mark.

After that, cut a small hole at each mark.

A Macrame role is used to make the tie for the top.

Use a hair clip to hold one end of the Macrame to go through the fabric hole.

And here’s the top of the lounge wear.

THE BOTTOM

Moving to the end of the dress, it has a slightly curve at the end. So, fold two sides of it to the middle.

At the left side, draw a straight line at 3cm inside the border line.

Then from there, go up 7cm and mark there.

From that mark, draw a curve line to connect to the straight line just drawn before.

This left side will be the front of the crotch of the pants.

At the right side, draw a straight line at 6cm inside a border line.

After that, mark at 7cm from the end and draw a curve line to connect to the straight line just drawn before.

Make sure the length of the top to that mark has to be the length from the belly button to crotch plus 4cm. And this will be the back of the crotch of the pants.

Use pins to hold two parts of the front and the back of the crotch together. Then, sew along the pinned line.

After sewing, fold the crotch to the middle. Then, connect the end together by the pins and sew.

Use the elastic band around 3cm to make the waistband for the pants.

Measure the length of the fabric needed to fold in first.

Then, draw a horizontal line at the mark to fold the fabric in later.

Use pins to hold the folding. Then, sew along the pinned line.

Remember to keep a small un-sewn space for the elastic band to go in later.

As usual, two safety pins are used to put the elastic band through the fabric hole of the waistband.

Then, sew the two ends of the elastic band together after that.

Don’t forget to sew the un-sewn space to finish the waistband.
